Entry | Quiet day. Patrols Patrol to area SINOH4536 and KANTHE 4931 left under Lt. DE GRUCHY 0700 HRS Patrol to Pt 1440 left under Lt. WHITEHEAD 0800 HRS Patrol from 1440 under SGT HADEN returned 2000 HRS after very stiff patrol. Reported seeing own troops, but no signs of enemy. Had only been able to get within 200ft of top last part being steep cliff. Time out 5 hrs, in 4 Hours. RWF Patrol to SINOH encountered 4 enemy in that area SS patrol to same place not yet back. Brigadier Hopkins visited Bn Area in afternoon and went to C Coy. area. A Naik of 5/11 PUNJABS was stopped in A.Coy. area and brought to Bn H.Q about 1600 HRS where he was interrogated by Brigadier. He had been on Patrol all day without food so was given a meal and sent back to his unit 2200 HRS C.O called to Bde H.Q. Bn at 2 hours notice to move N or S. 2025 Recce Plane seen circling in Area of B.I.D reported to Bde. 21.20 Sound of heavy mortaring to S.E - probably on 4 Bde front. |
