Regiment | 1st Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | Ahmednagar, India |
Entry | [12 - 30th] The Bn. got down to training very quickly and it was training of an extremely strenuous nature. The peacetime routine of sleeping during the heat of the day has been completely abolished and has given place to Exercises, Route Marches, Camping Exercises, Digging Exercises, Weapon Training and Range Practice etc: In view of this intensive training, much of which takes place in the heat of the day, the health of the troops has remained exceedingly good. An epidemic of diarrhoea has been sweeping round the Bn. claiming anything up to 50 casualties per day. It is accompanied by a high temperature and incapacitates the individual for anything from 3 to 5 days. The cause has not been ascertained.
