Entry 0130hrs. Recce parties leave for fwd Assembly area MILLINGEN 0757, prior to attack on "autobahn" 092591 to 100588. 0415hrs. Bn in assembly area. 0900hrs. Leading Coys, "B" and "C" Coys across start line. 0930hrs. One Coy on objective. NO opposition. 4 PW (one from 6 Coy 104 PGr, 15 PG Div - three from 10 Coy 18 Regt, 6 Para Div). 0949hrs. Both leading Coys on objectives. 9 PW to date. 1030hrs. "A" and "D" Coys cross start line, to pass through "B" and "C" Coys and advance as far as line of "Autobahn". 1104hrs. "A" Coy (left fwd) report small arms fire to their front. Arty fire put down. 1117hrs. "A" Coy 500 yards from objective SA and MG fire increasing. Coy reports enemy - Pl str - at 087588. "D" Coy 300 yards from objective. Advance slowed by MG fire. Arty fire brought down on en, reported at 076590-084591-087588. 1237hrs. "A" and "D" Coys pushing slowly. "A" Coy now 250 yards SOUTH of objective. "D" Coy 200 yards SOUTH of objective. 1255hrs. Bde orders that fwd Coys must be at least 400 yards SOUTH of autobahn by 1315, in order to be out of danger zone for fire-plan of 214 Bde, attacking across "autobahn". Line 105581 to 085588 to be held secure. 1310hrs. Coys now withdrawn, as ordered. 1630hrs. Bn HQ established 076577. Line of fwd troops 084588-087588-090585-092586-091583-092582.
