Entry | En shelling and mortaring slackened, although Capt. O.S. Brakspear had the misfortune to be wounded by one of the only three mortar bombs which fell in his coy area throught the day. Observation of en posns was carried out during the day and targets engaged by 224 Bty. A recce patrol carried out during the night by L/Sjt. Grant and L/Cpl. Letch produced good inf and effective shelling was carried out as a result. An example of effective co-operaton between inf and arty was provided on this day - A German was seen to move under a tree at ORCHARD 005616 by OP of 13 Pl of C coy and target accordingly given to 224 Bty. A tp engaged the target with such good effect that they actually hit the tree beneath which the German had tps. Congratulations on the performance of the Wiltshire Regiment in the attack on MALTOT was received from Army, Corps and div Comds. |
