Entry Attack on MALTOT ordered - carried out in conjunction with A Sqdrn 7 RTR H hour 1730 - Bn moved with two coys up, C coy left, A coy right - res D coy left, B coy right. Because of the close nature of the ground one tank moved with each pl - two secs of each pl leading and one sec moving close to the tank acting as its body guard against bazookas, sticky grenades, etc, which might be fired from amongst the wood - Co-operation by the tks was very good and though in the initial stages [initiallstages] of the attack oppostion [opostion] was stiff and adv slow the posn was occupied and re-organisation completed by 2300 hrs - Prisoners were captured and in addition parties of en, both large and small, began to give themsleves up - They were personnel of 1 bn 979 Regt of 272 Div. During re-organisation and throughout the night heavy concs of mortar and shell fire were put down - posn occupied by the Bn was the wooded area at 994625 East of MALTOT village and the high ground overlooking the R ORNE at 998621. The following offrs were wounded either during the attack or on re-organisation - Majot A.S.P. Jeans, Lt. D.R. Pope, Lt. J.H. Ruhterford, Lt. S.C. Clark.
