| Entry | Night 16/17 Jul Patrol sent to area ORCHARD 959618. Patrol gained useful infm though it was unable to reach the extent of its task. Bn was warned that it would be relieved by 7 SOM LI of 214 Inf Bde night 17/18 Jul. Just prior to relief at about 2100 hrs en put down a smoke screen accompanied by a sudden burst of shelling and mortaring. It was considered that he also was carrying out a relief. The en up to this time had consisted of tps of 9 SS Panzer Div. Relief of the bn was carried out without further incident except for sporadic shelling and mortaring during the night and by 180400 Bn had conc with remainder 129 Inf Bde in area MOUEN 9365 where the Bde came into 43 Div res. |
