Entry | [Pages 35-36] At first light [firstlight] Bn area is subjected to shelling as bad as the worst it had received in NORMANDY (Bn HQ receiving approx 200 shells in 15 mins). This is followed by an attack on our posns by tks and infantry of 116 Pg Div. The attack is beaten off by our own LMG fire and 6 pdrs, and by effective DF by arty. Sgt [Sjt] Curtis particularly distinguished himself in A Coy area by continually firing his 6 pdr single handed. The bn gave no ground except for 100 yds in A Coy area and the enemy did not break through. |
