Entry 129 Bde Gp leaves NIJMEGEN at 1800 hrs with orders to push on through CLEVE (395) and capture the high ground 5 1/2 miles SOUTH of the town (29448). 4 WILTS leads the column and has under comd B Sqn NOTTS YEO. 1 pl MMGs., 1 pl Hy Mors and 1 6p 17 pdr A Tk guns. The Bn moves with the men lifted on its own vehs and those of the supporting arms. The situation in the area of CLEVE is not quite clear, when the Bn leaves NIJMEGEN and it had no information about [infamabout] the line of our fwd tps. However the posn was found out when we reached a Bde HQ of 15 (S) Div and we were informed that the fwd tps were two miles short of CLEVE. At about midnight the Bn received orders to push straight on into CLEVE.
