Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location RAIPUR, Burma
Entry 0535 hrs, air raid. Again no damage to us. Unfortunately we have no fighter planes in this area and the Jap air force can do as it pleases. The Bn is again on short rations. The reason for this is said by Bde to be because the air force cannot drop us sufficient supplies. Unfortunately the men think that this is not true as weather conditions for dropping are perfect. This morning an inspection of all weapons and instruments by Div armourers. TOC H arrived in the area today. They have deck chairs, a small library and a wireless and a gramophone. Very much appreciated. 2/Lieut Hazell arrived with the LOB stores (ie. 2nd boots and bivouac tents) from MUTAIK. 3 carriers left to take a pl of 2 D.L.I. on a patrol. We were not told destination. Weather fine. Reference to Appendices: Capt Hewlett (I.O.) to 2 Div Hq as a staff learner Lieut J.S.
