| Entry | The Bn moved out from the staging area at PEIN-GA at 1030 hours and arrived in area THAYETPINZU at 1245 being settled in by 1300 hrs. Lt. Gen. Sir William Slim Comd 14 Army visited the Bn today and asked that his personal congratulations be passed on to all ranks on the Bns outstanding performance in the advance up to date - the Army Comd was accompanied by Major Gen. Nicholson the Div Comd. The CO held a conference at 1630 hrs at which the following promotions were approved. Promotions:- C/Sgt O'Hara to be CSM. B Coy C/Sgt Waddington to be C/Sgt HQ Coy C/Sgt Dowdswel to be att B Ech. Sgt Groves to be C/Sgt D.Coy Sgt Haden A. to be on trial with view to being C/Sgt of A Coy. During the evening the Mobile Cinema visited the Bn and showed "Melody Inn". The show was not interrupted for passing aircraft. |
