Entry | Coys in position as before. D Coy reported Japs on feature above them and sniping them. Gunners plastered Jap occupied hill periodically throughout the day. At 1000 hrs B Coy and Tanks engaged in shooting up face of feature under A Coy. B Coy observing for tanks. 1200 hrs Coy of D.L.I came up to occupy SAUSAGE feature behind A Coy. Jap Tanks were reported at 1245 hrs just ahead of leading tank and B Coy sent out patrol to overlook and confirm. An arty crump was put on feature south of D Coy (Jungle Top) M.M.Gs opened up in support and Japs wakened up with sundry shots between Japs and D Coy. A second artillery crump came down at 1310 hoping to catch Japs who are obviously above ground now as they are firing. At 1320 one of our tanks were bogged under bridge covered by enemy (M)(L) MGs. B Coy to investigate position. At 1500 hrs the C.O and I.O visited D Coy area no trouble was encounterd by them. A company of D.L.I moved through us at 1630 hrs and after tanks had blasted feature left of road (PT 1250) they occupied it relieving the pressure on A Coy who are established on feature MR 552572. Remainder of D.L.I and armour column moved on. A Coy contacted 4/10 GR and fed with them remaining in the area for night. The night was quiet. Remarks: 7 B.O.R.'s were wounded, 3 of which were not evac. |
