Entry | By 0800 hrs patrol from B and D Coys was posted out left and right of the road. At 0745 C, A and HQ Coys moved from Bde perimeter and joined fwd elements. It was decided to send C Coy to occupy a high feature South of the enemy defences, they moved off at 1100 hrs. A Coy moved fwd and formed a base on bridge some 300 yds fwd of Bde Box arriving at 1140 hrs and pushed out a pl to small bridge on road in front of A Coys posn from which point patrols operated. At 1238 D Coys patrol returned reporting enemy on features to which C Coy were moving. At 1300 B Coy patrol returned having contacted the enemy. Pl of A Coy contacted enemy 1 B.O.R. being killed, and Pl withdrew to base on small bridge.At 1430 Tanks moved forward to blast enemy on left of road. C Coy reports unable to reach feature and returned to Bn Box at 1700 hrs. Packs and bedding rolls brought up and a hot meal and rum issue had. An air OP flew over flying a streamer inscribed Merry Christmas. The night was quiet. Capt G.D.Acton promoted Major and assumes Comd of B Coy. The Battle Patrol attempted to reach height by different route to that which C Coy took, they left at 1630 hours. Reference to Appendices: See appx dated 25th and 02351 dated 26th. Lt.
