Entry | Armoured column as per Operation Order moved off at 0700 hrs with D Coy supporting remainder of Bn following up. Skeleton Tac HQ moved with D Coy. Unhindered for 6 miles where R.E.s and bulldozer cleared road block of burnt bridge and trees. Column moved on after 1 3/4 hrs delay arrived area PYINGAING 1245 hrs. The remainder of the Bn put up for night 5 miles in rear. Village of PYINGAING was deserted and British pamplets scattered around. Signs of recent Jap occupation. D Coy plus REs plus RA Priests pushed on and harboured approx 3000 yds fwd and formed a perimeter by 1900 hrs. |
