Entry | In trenches near BOIS GRENIER.1 man wounded, 1 to hospital. A draft of 25 Other Ranks joined the Battalion. 2nd B. RUSSELL with patrol crept through grass in daylight and took two iron posts and a piece of barbed wire lying near German entanglement. At about 11am, he again went out with patrol and threw hand grenades into listening post near same place, the Germans being there at the time, then withdrew a little and fired for a short time, returning to trenches. The enemy did not open fire until some time after. The iron posts were new and of peculiar pattern. |
