The fire trenches occupied by the Battalion during the last few days of December, and the early part of January became untenable owing to the water in them, by this date a serviceable breastwork with shelters along it had been practically completed though it can still be improved in many ways, points d'appui in rear of the breastwork are in course of construction during the construction of this breastwork there has been an increase in the number of casualties. |
