Entry At about 8 AM the enemy commenced to shell the SPOIL HEAP K20 central. A patrol of C Company under 2/LT EVANS was sent out and posts were established N and S of the SPOIL HEAP these were later withdrawn the ground being covered by Vickers and Lewis Guns. It was afterwards decided to hold the Canal Bank with posts from the SPOIL HEAP and accordingly C Company sent parties forward after dark. The enemy however was found to be holding SLAG AVENUE and it was decided in consultation with the Brigade to occupy the posts at dawn should the enemy have evacuated them.
