Entry At 5.20 am the 23rd R Fus and 1/KRRC attacked and captured all objectives with very slight opposition and patrols were sent forward. 6th Inf Bde then passed through to follow up the enemy who were retiring BM 285 (attached marked "A") were received ay 8.10 am and the Battalion moved at 8.45 am in fours with 100 yards between platoons. Verbal orders were issued at VAUX WOOD at about 9.30 am by the Divisional Cmdr and BGC that 99th Inf Bde would be in Reserve the Battalion to bivouac in the valley in C28 A and D. The Battalion arrived there by 10.15 AM. BN HQ were established at C29 c06. BM 290 containing instructions for the concentration which had already taken place was received at 1.10 PM. Echelon A moved to C28 d *0 and Echelon B with rear Brigade HQ to B29A BM 292 (attached marked "B") was received at 2.20 PM. At 9.15 PM BGC arrived at Battalion HQ with the new Brigade Commander Brig Gen A E McNAMARA CMG DSO and gave orders that the Battalion was to be ready to move forward a short distance at 7 AM 4/9/18 At 11.30 PM orders were received that the Battalion was to be in position in J15 B and D by 7 AM and to remain there in readiness. At 11.40 PM BM 298 was received altering the positions to J14 B and D A101 (attached marked "D") was issued at 11.45 PM
