Entry | In billets. Relieved Staffords in same trenches near FESTUBERT at 5pm, C&D in front line, A&B in reserve. Both machine guns in position on right of line. Trenches in a much worse condition, the men having to stand knee deep in water. Spent the night constructing sand bag and earth breastworks just in rear of trenches. Capt E.M Hilfrey [?] arrived with 9th reinforcement of 25 men. Lt Grindle to hospital. 26 admitted. 2 casualties during relief. |
