Location France, Front Line RIGHT SUB SECTOR
Entry At 12-30 am a raid was carried out by the Battalion against enemy lines in vicinity of ABLAINZEVILLE. The party consisted of 6 officers and 203 other ranks with Capt V.G.STOKES MC in command. The raid was very successful 5 prisoners being obtained & about 50 killed exclusive of those killed by our barrage. Our casualties were 1 officer killed 2/Lt F S BOSHELL 1 officer wounded 2/Lt BYSH & 31 OR wounded. Most of the wounds were very slight indeed. The enemy put down a heavy barrage & some gas shells but all was quiet about 2 a.m.
