Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, FRONT LINE (RIGHT) BOIRY-ST-MARTIN
Entry A fine bright day. Dispositions as per statement and plan attached. We found a complete length of line, all posts having been connected up, but the greater part was still shallow and narrow and connection was as yet incomplete with the LEFT sub sector. These defects were remedied during our tour. A great advantage was the fact that the line could be reached and passed along by day and the Support Company and Coy HQ. Coys in the line were all on the reverse slope and out of enemy view. Btn HQ is in an old burnt out German dug out but it afforded ample accommodation although a dangerous shelter most of the supporting timbers having been removed. Enemy artillery was active registering all day - otherwise it was quiet. 3 OR (1 since died of wounds) were wounded by a shell at SUGAR FACTORY. Good work accomplished during the night improving the trenches and wiring.
