Home of the Infantry Regiments of Berkshire and Wiltshire

War Diary

1918-03-14
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, Divisional Support METZ
Entry Reinforcements (125 O.R. from the BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Territorials) joined and were posted to B and D Coys. Which had been practically wiped out by the gas attack. The day was spent in digging in a new Tented Camp owing to the frequent & heavy shelling of the existing hutted camps. We learnt here that the enemy had continued his bombardment of the line with mustard gas practically without ceasing ever since we left the line and that other units had also suffered severely.
