War Diary

1918-02-19
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, FRONT LINE
Entry A quiet day. A patrol of B Company found the enemy at work near the gunpits on VILLAGE Rd - a pre-arranged artillery bombardment was put on at 11 pm and under cover of this a strong patrol of A Coy under 2/Lieut LORD entered and ransacked the gunpits and adjacent shelters, but, although a lighted brazier and other signs of occupation were found, no prisoner was forthcoming. Casualties NIL. Other patrols were out on our RIGHT front but their efforts were equally unavailing. During the day 2/Lieut WRIGHT was wounded by an enemy "pineapple" which fell right in the entrance to HQ of LEFT Co (B)
