Entry A quiet day and night. The enemy shelled D Companies lines persistently the whole day. Casualties 1 OR wounded. B and C Companies found the same working parties as on the previous day. Companies did good work strengthening the wire and improving the front line at night. A new post (VALGRIM) was established on bridgehead opposite STEVE post. Total casualties for December. Officers Killed 0, Wounded 2. OR's Killed 6, Wounded 58. Effective strength of Battn 31/12/17 37 Officers 729 OR. Ration strength of Battn 31/12/17 28 Officers 630 OR.
