Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, O'SHEA CAMP LEBUCQUIERE
Entry Christmas Day. Voluntary service in cinema 11 am. The men had their dinners at 1 pm in 10 messes. A great deal of trouble had been taken to give the bare NISSEN huts a comfortable and festive appearance, and, considering the conditions, the arrangements proved very successful. The Quartermaster (Capt F S BOSHELL) had provided ample fare - pork, beef and plum puddings, and a liberal supply of beer and cigarettes. The Commnd Officer (Major C Nugent) visited each mess and addressed the men. At 6 pm the Sergeants had their dinner in their mess, and at 8 pm the officers wound up the day with an exceeding cheery dinner. Altogether the day passed merrily - a certain amount of conviviality and good fellowship but no trouble. The spirit and discipline of all ranks proved to be excellent.
