Location | France, FRONT LINE TRENCHES, CANAL |
Entry | The day passed quietly. Enemy artillery activity noticeably less though his snipers activity was unabated. The CO conferred with 23/RF (on our right) and 99th I Bde at which suggestions were made to alter the method of holding the line and to withdraw the advanced posts, but these Divn refused to sanction. At about 8.30pm SOS was sent up from our centre post, numbers of the enemy having been seen approaching but no attack materialised. A number of our how (4.5") shells fell short and complaint was made to Divl Artillery and Brigades concerned, but no-one would accept the blame. Casualties 2/Lt S A E MILES wounded, 1 OR killed and 3 OR wounded. |
