War Diary

1917-12-03
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, FRONT LINE NEAR BOURLON
Entry The morning was quiet until the enemy opened a desultory fire on Factory and road, having probably observed movement. From 1 to 3pm the enemy bombarded the Factory buildings systematically with aeroplane observations, apparently endeavouring to raze them to the ground and prevent our using them as an O.P. At about 4pm the enemy were reported to be massing opposite our LEFT Company front. Artillery were informed and fired on SOS lines but nothing further transpired. There was considerable artillery activity between 10 and 11pm but the remainder of the night passed quietly.
