Entry At 6.25 am under cover of Artillery and Stokes Gun Barrage 1st KRRC on our LEFT attacked and captured the triangular salient held by the enemy in E22b and d. and straightened the line at this point. 1/2 platoon (C Coy) commanded by Lieut E C De Vitre cooperated in this move, advancing our Battn Left flank some 200yds and establishing 4 advanced posts. This account is attached. The factory was persistently shelled all day and a large number of gas shells were used intermittently throughout the day and night necessitating the wearing of box respirators. 2 Companies 10/DCLI and 2 Sections 482 Field Co RE proceeded with wiring and improvement of trenches and constructing the two strong points NE of Sunken Road. These strong points were manned by 2 platoons of D Company just before dawn.
