Location France, Support Line W of BOURLON WOOD
Entry Btn HQ and Regmtl AP subjected to intermittent bursts of shell fire at intervals of about 2 hours until dark when it became less and intermittent. At 8pm the Battn relieved 23/RF in front line and posts. B Coy (Lieut Valentine) on R, A Coy in centre (Capt Pugh) and C Coy (Capt Jackson) on L in touch with 1/KRRC. We held a line about 1200 yards. D Coy in support in QUARRY GUNPITS (E.23.c 5.3) Btn HQ moved to the FACTORY. Relief complete 11.30pm -casualties NIL. Advance parties from 10/DCLI and 483 Field Co RE placed at disposal of Brigade to consolidate and wire the trenches and establish two strong points to protect the R flank, came to reconnoitre the line. The Sugar Factory and road were shelled all night and our Regtl AP was full of casualties of other troops which were passing to and from relief along main road and considerable difficulty was experienced in evacuating them.
