Entry The attack on BOURLON village was not a success - Tanks cooperated but were held up by a barricade and the infantry were forced back to their original line on the high ground in the wood. It was feared that 2/5 KOYLI had been driven back and that the enemy were advancing to the high ground in E17b and E18a and at 10am we were ordered to move a Company up to the SUNKEN ROAD (E23b and E24a) on R of 23/RF to prevent this by counter attack if necessary. The 2/8 W Yorks moving up from reserve to reinforce the threatened line. "B" Coy under Lieut D Valentine was moved up suffering 3 OR casualties . Shelling of Factory and road heavy during the night. 2 signallers were wounded. Our MO and stretcher bearers were busy all day and night in RAP at the Chateau dealing with the heavy casualties suffered by the attacking troops and our HQ were made use of by both 2/5 KOYLI and 2/5 Y&L until they were relieved early in the morning of 28th. B Coy also shelled in Sunken Road and suffered 3 OR casualties.
