Entry Early in the morning (2.30am) about 400 gas shells were fired from 4" Stokes guns by "O" Section No 4 Special Coy RE on our front. The operation was successfully carried out, the enemy retaliation being very slight. Casualties nil. At 10am Brig Genl KELLETT (GOC 99th Bde) conducted Colonel FELISBERTO ALVES PEDROSO (Commanding 6th Portuguese Infantry Brigade) round the trenches. At midday a party of 12 Officers and 26 OR's from Nos 1 & 2 Coys of 2nd Btn (6th Brigade) Portuguese Infantry came in for a 24 hours reconnaisance of the line. 2 Officers were attached to each B, C and D Coys and 4 to Battn HQ.
