On 3 Dec 1885, Egypt, Wadi Halfar. Remaining half of 'H' Company by train for Akashah. Halted at Ambigal Wells due to enemy cutting line. Party, including Sappers, proceeded on by rail at 2 pm to repair break, returning 5 pm to find station under attack. All personel withdrawn into fort, which was under fire until 1am 5 December 1885.

On 5 Dec 1885, Egypt, Samass. Headquarters and Right Half Battalion by rail for Ambigal Wells. At break in line (three miles from Ambigal Wells) continued by march leaving guard including two Gardener Guns at train. Enemy having left Ambigal Wells joined with Left Half Battalion. 'A' Company and part of 'B' Company left at fort. Rest of Battalion marched back to train and on to Samass.

On 30 Dec 1885, Egypt, Kosheh. As part of 1st Brigade Frontier Field Force, advanced against and attacked enemy at Ginnis. One Officer and one Private killed. Enemy routed with loss of about 600, 3 guns and much arms, ammunition, treasure and most standards. After rest, battalion marched in pursuit to Amara and bivouacked.

On 1 Jan 1886, Egypt, Amara. On 1 January the Battalion marched to Koyek and bivouacked. It marched to Amara and bivouacked on 6 January, to Koshey on 8 January, to Akasha on 10 January, where, on 13 January, it travelled by rail to Halfa and encamped.
