On 17 June 1876, Ireland, The Curragh. The Depot 62nd Regiment (with One Officer, two Corporals, two Privates, three women and five children of 99th Regiment) to Kilkenny to await arrival of corps. (Strength of Depot Two Officers, 12 Corporals, 80 Men, 11 women 26 children)
On 6 July 1876, England, Petersfield. 49th transferred to Petersfield from Parkhurst on 6 July.
On 20 July it deployed to Aldershot and on 4 August it transferred to Anglesea Barracks, Portsmouth.
On 16 Aug 1876, Ireland, The Curragh. Regiment proceeded to Kilkenny and outstations as below. Headquarters with 'D', 'F' and 'G' Companies to Kilkenny. 'A', 'B' and 'C' Companies to Waterford. 'I' Company to Duncannon Fort. 'H' Company to Clonmel. 'C' Company to Dungarven. 'K' Company to Carrick-on-suir.
On 27 Nov 1876, India, Chakrata. Headquarters and 'B', 'D', 'G' and 'H' Companies marched to Imperial assemblage at Delhi, where they arrived on 15 December
On 5 Dec 1876, India, Bombay. Four Sergeants, one Corporal and 43 Privates (time expired) 17 women and 18 children embarked on the HMTS 'Serapis' for England
