On 21 Jan 1846, India, Fort Jugraon. Detachment marched with 53rd Regiment for relief of Loodheana. The force came under heavy artillery fire for 95 minutes, with losses suffered, eventually arriving at Loodheana about 4p.m 'much knocked up'

On 28 Jan 1846, India, Loodheana. 62nd and 80th Detachments, protecting two 8 inch howizters, marched for Alliwal to face Sikhs entrenched on the Sutledge. At Alliwal at 9a.m.. enemy opened fire. Following short action, enemy retreated over river with severe losses - including 48 guns. 62nd lost two men wounded, one of whom died
