During July 1824, South Africa, Capetown. The Regiment was still stationed at Capetown in July 1824, when two companies, under Major Bartley, deployed to Grahamstown where two privates had been murdered by Kaffirs. The Regiment remained in Capetown until October 1828

On 6 Oct 1825, Ireland, Dublin. Regiment remained quartered until 6 October. It then received route for Enniskillen, where it was quartered. Due to poor conditions the Regiment suffered heavy loss through death from sickness, principally among the recruits, owing to the wetness of the season, the situation of the site and the quality of the water. A Detachment of one Subaltern, one Sergeant and 20 men ordered to Maguires Bridge Regiment remain here until March 1826. Establishment augmented to ten companies of 74 men. Recruiting completed from Regimental Headquarters and recruiting parties in England, Scotland and Ireland
