On 4 Dec 1909, India, Nowgong. Detachment embarked at Bombay in SS 'Soudan' for South Africa, strength: Two Officers, 285 other ranks, nine women and 12 children. The detachment arrived, disembarked and joined Battalion at Pietermaritzburg on 28 December.
