A paperback book of 412 pages with the addition of extracts from the Regimental History, a Roll of Honour, Awards and Decorations, the Organisation of Battle and an Index makes this latest edition a much improved version. This book is for all those with an interest in the 1st/4th Battalion Royal Berkshires during World War 1. The original diary is only to be seen at the National Archives at Kew, London, so publishing this transcript will assist all those who are interested and also hopefully reduce the demand to see the originals. The narrative text, extracted from the excellent History of The Royal Berkshire Regiment Volume 2 by F Lorraine Petrie relating to the service of the 1st/4th Battalion Royal Berkshires in World War 1, and a transcription from the Battalion War Diary for the period March 1915 – October 1919 will hopefully give as complete a picture as possible.
