Private Young's War A private publication which tells the story of a Shrewton man, Geoff Young, and his Army service from 1939 to 1945. In particular, his personal account of his time with the 4th Battalion The Wiltshire Regiment from the Normandy Landings in June 1944, across the Seine and on to the end of hostilities in Germany in 1945. The 4th and 5th Battalions of the Wiltshire Regiment were both territorial units within the 43rd Wessex Division, which landed shortly after D-Day and were part of the campaign to free Europe. Geoff Young, as a soldier in The 4th Battalion gives his view of an infantry soldier's participation in the battalion actions at Hill 112, Mont Pincon, the assault crossing of the Seine, Geilenkirchen, Hoven Wood, Reichwald and Cleve.
